Rain, Drama & GT Win: IPL 2025’s Wildest Match

KKR vs MI

Table of Contents

When the cricket gods need chaos, they summon a Wankhede classic. On a wild night time beneath the Mumbai sky, Gujarat Titans pulled off what can simply be defined as a Bollywood-fashion heist. Between rain, no-balls, concussion subs, and a fumbled run-out, this IPL 2025 conflict had the whole thing, except logic.

Let’s unpack the madness before the scorecard wishes therapy.

Early Drama: Siraj’s Magic Overshadow Rohit’s Struggle

The Titans won the toss and opted to field. Smart move. The pitch had an early seam, and Siraj didn’t waste time. He dismissed Rickleton packing with a short-cover trap that surprised everyone.

Soon, Arshad Khan had Rohit Sharma hopping like he’d stepped on a Lego. Rohit poked, prodded, and perished for just 7. By now, MI fanatics have been checking if this was the 2013 version of Rohit once again.

GT Drops, MI Pops

Will Jacks got 2 lifelines, one on 0,the other on 29. Apparently, GT was feeling generous. Jacks said thanks with a quickfire 53 off 29. Suryakumar Yadav joined him and delivered his 12th score of 25-plus. At ninety seven for two in 10.3 overs, MI looked golden.

GT, even though, had a surprise up their sleeve. And no, it wasn’t a magician, but the spin.

Spin, Squeeze, Surprise

Enter R Sai Kishore. The man doesn’t continually bowl, but while he does, he receives wickets like he’s flipping switches. First, he lured Suryakumar right into a trap—inside out, long-off, gone. Then came Hardik Pandya, who swung like he changed into slicing wood and was given top-edged out.

Meanwhile, Rashid Khan returned from a forgettable match. This time, he got the rhythm and Jacks’ wicket. Gerald Coetzee and Prasidh Krishna wrapped up the innings. Special mention: Coetzee’s quick ball to Bosch which hit him on the head—stay tuned, it comes again later!

Target Set: MI Posts 155

MI ended on one hundred fifty five for eight. Not massive, now not tiny. Just sufficient to be dangerous. Especially with Boult and Bumrah in the attack and some critical weather drama brewing.

GT Chase Begins… In a Wind Tunnel…

Forget the ball; even the wind had swings. Boult wasted no time removing Sudharsan. Bumrah, of course, turned the ball into a yo-yo. Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler looked like they had been seeking to bat in a hurricane. At 21 for 1 in 5 overs, GT was not behind on runs, they had been behind in hope.

The Hardik Over That Changed Everything

Then came that over. Hardik Pandya channelled his bowling actions. Two no-balls. Three wides. Eleven runs. Pure chaos.

GT saw some hope rising again. But just when matters appeared strong, Bosch was uncomfortable due to the hit on the head. In came the left-arm quick Ashwani Kumar, the concussion sub.

Followed by that was Ashwani’s Entry, Buttler’s Exit. Ashwani bowled like a seasoned pro. He gave away just five in his first over. Then, he dismissed Buttler again with a diffused side. It became MI’s game again—or was it not?

Rutherford’s Revenge

Sherfane Rutherford returned as the Impact Player and turned into 1 off 2 when things appeared dicey. Then got an over from Jacks. After three dots, Rutherford went crazy. A flurry of inner edges, smooth lofts, and suddenly GT became ahead of the DLS score.

Then the rain gods again.

Rain, Resume & Ruckus

After breaks and lots of drama, GT wanted 15 from one over. MI was out of top bowlers. And due to their slow-over rate, one boundary fielder had to be pulled in.

Talk about leveling the field, literally.

Chahar’s One-Over Horror Show

Deepak Chahar stepped up. First ball: four. Third ball: six. Then a no-ball. Then a wicket. MI nevertheless had hope. GT wanted 1 off 1.

That’s when cricket became a blooper reel.

The Run-Out That Wasn’t

The ball went to mid-off. The throw got in. No one was near the stump. Suryakumar Yadav and Chahar just… stood there. Hardik Pandya looked round like a child seeking out backup in the course of a meal fight. He took a shy at the stumps. Missed. Game over.

Gujarat Titans had pulled off an amazing, rain-soaked, no-ball-fueled win. And Mumbai’s six win match streak drowned in drama.

End Note: Never Leave Early at Wankhede

This match was a movie, people. The early swing. The mid-innings squeeze. The concussion twist. And that mind-boggling final-ball fumble. Gujarat Titans walked away with  points. And Mumbai walked away with a headache.

GT now tops the IPL 2025 points table. MI may additionally want a therapist, or at least a new fielding teacher. Now at the 4th position, it is a must win in the remaining matches. One thing for sure: if IPL matches are this wild, fantasy players need to have a check all time available. Because these games are lit. And, with all this drama, one thing can never be missed.
